From February 2024 radio amateurs will be operating under a class licence. You need to hold an ACMA recognition certificate and a call sign to operate. ALARA offers a limited number of grants to women applying for an ACMA recognition certificate (Foundation) or upgrading to a Standard or Advanced recognition certificate.
The grant is equal to half the cost incurred for obtaining the recognition certificate and callsign. In addition, we will provide a complimentary membership to ALARA for one year. ALARA will also consider applications for half the cost of any course fees or other fees incurred.
From February 2024 there is no longer any annual fee payable for a licence.
Indicative costs of gaining a Foundation qualification and a call sign are:

Any woman applying for a Foundation recognition certificate or upgrading to a Standard or Advanced Amateur Radio recognition certificate may apply
for a grant.
Costs may include ACMA recognition certificate, callsign application, Foundation Manual, course fees.
An application for a grant can be made on completing your qualification.
Keep your receipts and send copies to the Secretary EMAIL secretary@alara.org.au with your application.
The grant will amount to half of the approved costs you have incurred.
You will also be enrolled as a member of ALARA for one year.
